one fear about freeway driving...

...I was able to experience today during my lunch break.

I decided to skip lunch and go take a little ride instead. I hopped on I10 at barker cypress and went down to the grand parkway (hwy 99) and rolled out to 1093. Went down 1093 about 5 miles and turned around and backtracked my way to the office. As I was on I-10 about 2 exits away from my office, I watched as a pickup truck kicked something up off the road. It bounced once, hopped 4 feet up in the air, and I noticed as it was closing in on me at 70mph that it was a lug nut from someone's wheel.

That hit me right in the shoulder and hurt like a !

What kind of have you been hit with on the freeway?

So far the only thing that hurt was a rock that hit me right on my neck b/t the helmet and my collar

Other than that just plastic bags, bugs, paper...regular Houston trash

A styrophoam cooler lid right in my chest/face at about 75 mph... scared the out of me! It hooked almost like a boomerang around the car in front of me and flew right into me... luckily it hit my headlight slightly first so that way it wasn't as hard of a hit, but it still hurt like .

a bird. . . . left a pretty nice bruise on my shoulder cause I was wearing a cut-off shirt no jacket (during my squid days). Oh and I had guts all over my shirt and tank from when it splatted. Actually it almost knocked me off the bike.

but yeah, mostly little rocks n stuff

I had a friend that was cruising down the highway at 70 in his pickup truck and a muffler from another truck fell off b/c of corrosion. It went through the windshield missing his head by about a foot, hit the roof and then through the back window. It would have probably killed him or done serious damage if it hit him, there is a lot of energy behind something going 70 mph, glad to hear your ok though and it didn't hit you in your face shield.

I have been hit by a good size rock thrown up by a semi, hit the top corner of my screen, and cracked it. I was lucky

Dollhouse, Teddy Bear (large) & one of those chip-displays while in my old car...

Couple rocks, bugs some cig butts & a short piece of 2x4. Most of it seems to come in shin/knee range/height on me. Did get behind a 4x4 once, and spent a couple miles dodging dirt clods as they came off the truck and bounced.

I got hit by a rock in my foot at I-10 and 610 when an 18 wheeler swerved in between 3 lanes and I was on the outside trying to avoid it, a rock the size of my fist hit my toe, other than that jsut bugs mainly, some made some nasty splatters on your visor and can make a loud ding when they hit, but no real damage done.

Luckly just bugs for me mainly. But i have been accused of tossing something at a riding buddy. We were going down 1-10 and at about Grand Parkway apparently one of my swingarm spools came flying off right at him... He was more than a little upset at the next stopping point!

The usual houston trash, bags, rocks, bugs. etc. One time I was hit by a piece of wood though. There was a big board on the freeway and one of the corners broke when a car went over it. I saw it spinning like a boomerang and it really scared the out of me when I saw it coming my way. It ended up hitting my faceshield even though I tried ducking.

I probably would've lost my eye if that thing hit me in the face

Been hit by rocks of various sizes. Oh, and one HUGE bug right in the throat. I thought it was going to hit the front of the bike and right at the last minute, he pulled up and went right over the top. That sucked.
