Need Help - Bogging Issue

I have a 2006 R1. Every time I am under say 4-5K rpm, it feels as if my engine is bogged down. After I push past, the bike accelerates very smooth. Does anyone have an idea to what this might be? Do I need to see about taking it to someone to tune something up? Dont really know what is going on.

Cheers!

I'm pretty sure all bikes do that. The RPM's are too low for the gear you're in. For instance, my R6 "boggs" unitl it gets past 3000 RPM's in first gear.

I would think that I would be able to t shut the throttle and open up to pull the front up, but even in 1st it can not be done. I would not think that I would have to flip my clutch to do this on an R1.

Cruising in 2nd is the same, as when I punch the throttle I have a slightly delayed response and sluggish pick up. Do you have the same issue there as well?

How many miles does the bike have?
When's the last time it was tuned up?
When's the last time the air filter was replaced?

The bike has 10,500 miles on it, bought it with 7k on it already. I had an 8K service done on it by Yamaha that did an all around check up, including changed my spark plugs. I do not know if this includes any specific engine tuning or if the filter was even changed.

Do you know if the dealer service should have covered these things, or should I take it to someone to let them ride and see what I am talking about. Maybe it is just me, but I would still like to have an expert opinion.

With an EFI engine, can fuel mixtures still be adjusted?

Cheers,

J.R.

The bike is entirely stock. No aftermarket engine parts. The bike has 10,500 on it, but bought with 7K (see above post). I dont know if this is normal, but I would imagine an R1 would have much more behind it than what I am feeling.

Cheers,

sounds like a mixture of things could be going on.... i would put some lucas fuel inj cleaner in a tank of gas and see if that helps and also check air filter, and dont get valero or race way/track), its bad gas and will runin a fuel system. if that doesnt fix it take it to patrick(Motorcycles Unlimited) and theyll figure it out
