Alpinestars jacket that fits as snug as comfortable, and make sure it has a zipper to zip up to alpinestars pants.

Arai is number one then shoei. Only two helmets i would put on my head. Both have great quality but arai fits more like a pillow.

go try on the helmets advised here. they fit different shaped heads so brand A might fit better than brand B. as far a suits go, I have both dainese and fieldsheer suits. if money is no object than I definetly recommend dainse. If you are budget minded fieldsheer makes quality stuff for the money.

You didn't mention boots! Boots are VERY important gear. IMHO Helmet and Boots are a MUST have as well as jacket and gloves, but if you have to buy gear a little at a time the start with a quality helmet and sturdy riding boots!

Get your at the track. The street is the WORST place to work on cornering skills.
There are noob days from time to time (check out the Longhorn Motorcycle School i.e. LMS thread in the sponsors forum). That is the time to go get instruction and learn skills that transfer to the street, NOT the other way around.

Oh and Fieldsheer Flex is a full perf quality suit that Patrick at Motorcycles Unlimited will give you a good price on.

A* gloves FTW, all others feel uncomfortable to me. Never got to break in other pairs, but A*'s feel awesome from brand new. And Shoei helmet has never given me any problems, with tinted or clear sheild. Don't skimp on gear. That R6 can be repaired, but not your body.

A Dianese back protector, full length gloves(I love the cortech guantlets), and some under armor to be comfy at all times.
