i think the only thing that happens is clutch plates slip a little. Yes I have had it happen to me on an older bike, but only when I was hammering on it.

Amsoil has a comparison chart- my sponsor from a couple of years ago gave me a link. I'm sure a search through google will find it.

The thing is that on motorcycle forums (where oil debates get really stupid sometimes) most of the good information gets clouded. A lot of times, the "documented" cases of engine failure are first hand accounts that are relayed by mechanics and/ or bike owners.

I don't buy in to it so much about the oil "ruining" an engine, but I know for a fact that I and plenty of others have had clutch problems because of it. That's the only thing that I personally can about.

The oil filter debate though about Fram is common knowledge, and I personally won't use that brand.

I been using K&N with no problems but I'd prefer to switch over to another brand that is more convenient for me to pick up and is easier on the wallet.
Any suggestions? I'm using the FS Shell Rotella and it's been treating me good.

when I got my first bike and didnt know squat I bought car oil, well a week later my perfectly good tranny went out in downtown, bike shop told me it was the oil I used. dont know if that was true or not, But now I know how to do all my own work now, motor swaps, forks, oil changes

Dude, grab a Purolator filter. Some of the best you can buy, and they're only a few bucks. I didn't steer you wrong with the Rotella did I?

Anyways. . . .for filters I use K&N, OEM, or Purolator, whichever is more convenient. Oil is either Rotella, Castrol(easy to get) or Royal Purple, which my bike loooooves. I hear NOTHING but great things about Amsoil, but don't know where to get it on the SE side for a reasonable price.

sweet Im gonna have to try it. I found out the castrol 4t oil may have been what cause the clutches togo bad. not 100% sure but Ive been reading the fzr forums and from what I gathered that castrol oil or any synthetic oil is not good for those clutches, and I saw good stuff on there about the rotella also, just wasnt sure.

10/4 I grabbed a pure one at the Advanced auto parts in Pearland. It was $7 incl tax. Few of the ZX-10R guys had good results with them.
$30 FS Oil Change FTW!
