Question Leathers Question

Ok I'm finally considering purchasing a new (new to me more than likely)
set of 1-peice leathers.

Please discuss.

Thanks,

Martin

Ive been on a track...parade lap...go-kart track...

Ive been looking at suits off and on for a few years, I bought an old dainese off of ebay just for farking around with. Its an older suit (95ish?) but I can say that the build quaility of dainese is pretty high. No loose stiches, zippers all still work, buttons still snap tight. Only thing is the elastic around the waist of the pants is a little loose.

I've worn Tecknic gear for a few years now, and their leather has saved me a few trips to the hospital. Their MSRP prices are .........decent.......but you can find 1pc & 2pc Tecknic suits on ebay new/new used for awesome deals!

Suit sizes are pretty accurate. Their boots however are a little off if you ask me. Their boots are cut a little to big......maybe a size to big on length. Which is strang because the boot insert fits like a glove. Hmmm.....

But for other gear brands, I can't speak much of simply because I have only worn tecknic for the last few years.

Good luck and remember even though you are looking for a deal you have to ask yourself, "How much is my skin worth to me".

Your body type will dictate alot of what you will be looking for. I am an off the rack guy and the Teknic Lightning suit has done me well so far. Will you be looking for contingency off the leathers you wear? This will narrow the scope as well. Lots of things to consider.

Not sure as of yet. New up to 1200ish used will depend on what it is and it's condition.

From experience I have had a 100mph get off with teknic leathers and they did their job but were trashed. I have had three get offs with joe rockets and they held up great. Both are mid grade suits. Bought both used for around $350. I spend more on helmets.

wish I had a motard / dual sport, it'll be next

I picked up a used Komodo suit recently, it seems really well build and has tons of armor and protection.
it may because I have a smaller upper body compaired to my legs but it just a little baggy in the upper body but the legs fit perfect, if I went down a size my legs wouldn't fit
but I haven't been on the track on it yet (next month, w00t!) though so I'll report back then

oh and the giant "bib" front makes it relatively easy to get in and out of

Not concerned about contingency $...for a while but thanks for the vote of confidence

Even though I don't "want" to find out if they are re-usable I would prefer that they are.
I'm getting a new helmet as well mine is a bit funky after so many TDs and 50k on the street:/:

At that price range you have a lot to choose from. Get with Motorcycles Unlimited or any dealers to see what fits you best. All are good for at least 1 crash. All are built/made differently.

For you, maybe fieldsheer would fit best.

I currently have a Frank Thomas 2-peice and it has seen better days. It's held up great for mini get off's but not sure I trust it for T1 at TWS (Texas World Speedway) for example. Time for a 1 peice for on the track comfort and confidence reason.
