lets be pro active safety in mind

Hi all. I just started posting and joined less then a month ago. In that time, I have seen more incidents and and motorcycle deaths threads then I'm willing to count. Its alarming and scary. I am a self taught rider, fell a few times, went thru a few close calls, in the end, the advice of season riders made me a aggressive driver/rider, what i mean by that, is that i go at my pace, not everyone else's. No matter where i ride, I'm having to play frogger with the rest of the herd of cars, think about it, riding a street bike, takes focus.

All i can do is just make a suggestion:
Why not? volunteer you're free time
to save a few lives down the road, by taking the
less experienced members of this forum, and physically teach them to ride safer.

Six months ago, a seasoned rider friend of mine visited me from austin, we
went riding that weekend, he ridiculed me on the way i was riding, i felt embarrassed, we would stop, he'd get out and slap the while helmet. yelling about why i was leaning and turning this way and so on and so on . . .

But that small ride taught me allot, myb even prolonged my life a bit.

Myb I'm just talking rubbish, it's just a suggestion. (after seeing new RIP threads) i'm so emo.

funny you should bring this up...i was just thinking last night about how everyone puts on these m&g and such. tonight will be my first to attend one but i haven't seen where anyone covers safety except right before going on a ride - which is important - but keeping this stuff fresh in our heads is sooooooo important. when we get complacent (spell???), is when something is likely to go wrong.

maybe once a month we could have a m&g and take like 10 minutes or something and talk about riding safety, proper gear, bike maintenance ect?

just my thoughts for what it's worth

10 min. isn't enough, as a riding community, once in a while, instead of riding runs, make an event just for . . . i would jump on that in a heartbeat.

i've ridin with a lot people off of this forum, and i can tell you right now, most are in no position to be teaching a new rider anything. they have their own bad habits that don't need to be passed on.

you know there's already an organization out there that does nothing but teach new riders how to survive on the streets, teaching them the correct way to do things and how to react in dangerous situations. it's called the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, and for 150 bucks you'll get years worth of knowledge in just one short weekend.

Yeah but if we get one of those instructors to pick a topic and cover that topic, that would work. I am not saying just any ol member, someone creditable in that field, who works on bike, find someone creditable in that field to go over a topic, and so on and so on.
