I was gonna ask that question but you beat me to it. So, instead I'll answer it for you.

Because people don't practice emergency braking. If they did, they would do a better job of stopping. Object avoidance is another good one. I dodge every pothole on the road just to try and speed up my reactions.

Before everyone starts in on me, I'm speaking specifically about sportbikes. Cruisers are much heavier, don't get the same weight transfer, don't have the same quality of brakes or brake design and need both in order to stop.

One old trick/tip that may help (besides practicing emergency braking) is to move your brake pedal "down" one notch on the pivot point so you have to push further to get the same amount of braking action before it locks up.

Easily done and works.

the thing is, my rear brake is already "soft". i have to push it a good way to lock up. i must of near jumped on it.

lolz at checking women. i say comfortable bc its 5 min to work, and i ride it everyday. so trust me when i say, i will ride to work like its any other ride.

I tried it less than a year ago. It depends greatly on what the ins. thinks its worth. Then its a pain in the if your in a hurry for another bike.
