Got cut off and took my first spill

there were five cars stacked in a middle lane at a light, i was coming up from behind on the inside lane with no cars. by the time i get 5ft behind the last of the cars the light turns green and the third car comes out in front of me. i was only going about 25-30, locked up the rear brake and had no room but to hit the back of his car. luckily i turned the bike enough to lay it down easily on its side and i was the one that actually flew and hit the car with my shoulder. if i hadn't of done that i believe i wouldve been in the windshield.

i was heading to work in the medcenter and well, nurses were all over the place, ems just dropped a kid off at childrens, my roommate was heading to work. so i was in great hands. they put a c-collar on me and on a stretcher within 5 minutes of being down. the guy was cool about it, took responsibility from what i hear.

minor scratches on my knees and elbows, just sore as right now.

its good to know you have friends when it happens. one friend came straight there and got my bike home, another came over from work. and two came from up north to check everything out.

bike will be totaled i guess bc the handlebar slapped the frame. light scratches and scuffs everywhere. will have pictures up later.

glad you made it out with only soreness... tank slapper doesn't necessarily mean a totaled bike...

bc i had no time to react, you pull the brake and push with foot as tight as you can.

i took msf in January at awesome cycles. i know now that if the lane is clear, must go slow.

i can get around, just takes a loooong time to do it. my freaking roommate took a video of me with my pants cut all the way up my thighs limping with holding my pants up. lolz.

depends on damage. scratches not for sure and dents, cracks, or wrinkles most likely

i.
you try adn get max braking W/O locking your rear up, but more important is proper and effective ft braking.

also you don't nec. have to go slow, but you have to think, hmm.....what if that car pulls out.........what am i going to do?

concentrating on riding is key to staying upright on the street, thats why i don't recommend ipods and other distractors. (not pointing at tenguin)

did you hit the guy on the rear or rear quarter panel?

well, it's always different when you are in the situation. i guess my foot was a little heavy when it happened. everyone's reactions are different, especially when it happens so fast.

i hit the corner of the bumper
