Sunshyn, best of luck on your new bike.

Let me know how it turns out for ya.

I'm sure you will make the right decision in the end.

Whew this has gotten interesting. I still say SV650. Polo, I learned on a 600cc I-4 no problems. However, you can't really say ANYONE can start on a 600cc I-4, but you can definately say some. Different people learn at different levels.

Don't get too worried about RX and SA

You don't know anything about me.

As soon as someone has an opinion that doesn't match yours you start name calling. Read the thread heading whats your opinions.

The only ones that are acting like kids are the ones that act like they have so much more experience. Not a good example for the nubes!
I appreciate your opinion, and all the other ones too. It's been a big help on deciding what to do. So thanks for your input too!

I see your point. I don't know much about the 650 so you may very well be right. I never said that the 600 rr was the only bike for her or the only bike to learn on. I was just saying what I believed to make the most sense to me.

Wow, people really take some of this stuff hard, because I feel that to me the 600 rr is a good bike, Ive been called a dumbass and a kid. LOL!

Wasn't referring to you dudewhrsmybike, just saying. You have a good point though, if you know about both bikes and can say that the sv650 would be better, then by all means she has a better chance with the 650. Hands down.

Sounds about right, it may not handle like a SS600, but I'm sure with the right rider scrapin a knee is very possible

Ok, here is my 2 cents.

I've owned several types and sizes of bikes, from 125's to a 900

I currently have a 600rr and a 500r in the garage.

While I absolutely LOVE my 500, the 600 is a totally different machine and is a lot less forgiving, especially to low milage riders.

I can't say enough about the 500 as far as street is concerned.

Cheap
High mpg
Very comfortable
Reliability has been A++
Easy to find cheap parts..

The list goes on.

The 600 was PURPOSE BUILT for the track....and made legal for the street.

Im not saying you shouldn't get one for the street, but my opinion is keep the 500 a bit longer and realize how good you have it to own one.

personaly i like the katana. its a comfortable bike and doesnt have such a power to weight ratio that would scare the out of a beginner. everyones entitled to there own opinion though. i wouldnt give up my zx9 for one but if i where going to travel a long distance i would much rather be on the katana than my bike. as far as selling the 500 to get it i wouldn't. your just going to want to sell it and get another bike in a few months.

Thats very true, comfortability is a big factor, the 500 is allot more comfortable.
It would suck to get something different and then regret it.
