You want to print it out? So you can have it on your person to show the cop? I'm sure they'll love that.

I am not sure why you all don't get it. I am not looking for advice just a copy of the law... I appriciate the concern but I am only interested in how the law is worded.
Ok, it's been provided for you... print it out and go forth.

If that is all there is to the law it is wide open for opinions. I have been told various things that don't match what was listed including a forest Ranger that pulled several of us over for no good reason. A DPS trooper had no problem with my mount. It can be seen for a good distance and up close and the mount does not impare reading it. I had heard there was a clear definition in print. I guess that was wrong.

I've posted it as it's document in the books...

Everything else in regards to interpetation is up to the cop and the judge.
If you were to ask the dps/mc dept they are likely to tell you.. if it wasnt installed by the manufacturer, don't put it on there.

LIGHTING EQUIPMENT.

(a) A motorcycle, including a motor-driven cycle, shall be equipped with:

(1) not more than two headlamps mounted at a height from 24 to 54 inches;

(2) at least one taillamp mounted at a height from 20 to 72 inches;

(3) a taillamp or separate lamp to illuminate the rear license plate that complies with the requirements of Sections 547.322(f) and (g);

(4) at least one stoplamp that complies with the requirements of Section 547.323(d); and

(5) at least one rear red reflector that complies with the requirements of Section 547.325(b) and may be included as a part of the taillamp.

547.322
(f) A taillamp or a separate lamp shall be constructed and
mounted to emit a white light that:
(1) illuminates the rear license plate; and
(2) makes the plate clearly legible at a distance of 50
feet from the rear.

(g) A taillamp, including a separate lamp used to illuminate
a rear license plate, must emit a light when a headlamp or auxiliary
driving lamp is lighted.

I think the key here is the plate must be "clearly legible at a distance of 50 feet from the rear" and I would say that would be either day or night, but night for sure.
