Even though I am an instructor w/ RideSmart, I would still love to go out there and check it out since it is so close to me in Austin.

However, I would not be able follow w/ the rules. I can't ride in group 2 until I am "approved." And, per the website, in level 1 (beginner & intermediate) where I would have to register, "- NO passing in Group 1 unless the rider in front allows or signals the rider in back to pass. "

Sorry, that's unsafe and for $200 I'm not going to waste several sessions not being able to pass anyone, not even on the straights.

Perhaps eventually. Her first event is Memorial Day and I'm at TWS (Texas World Speedway) w/ Ridesmart that day and the June 9th day is the day after the 2-day Cresson event w/ RideSmart, so I'll see if there is a day later in the year that I can make it out...

I initially signed up for Group 2, And then decided since I have never been on the track I didn't want to chance a screw up and emailed her and she put me in Group 1. i normally ride level 4 with ridesmart, but have done TWS (Texas World Speedway) about 10 times. I will be at TWS (Texas World Speedway) on Memorial Day also, With a bunch from SA.

I've run this track already, and my avatar pic is one that was taken at Harris Hills. This is a really fun track to ride on, clockwise and counter clockwise. $200 may sound expensive but I think they are going to run from 7am to 7pm, and that is LOTS of track time. This course is smooth and flows real nice, personally I think 600s work best on this track. With my 1000 I never got out of 3rd gear.

Highly doubtful. It's been looked at by the CMRA from the information I've heard, and the track owner isn't to that point yet. Sounds more like they're more than happy keeping the track as a member's only thing.

It looks like a cool track though.

When I talked to the owners they said that CMRA looked at it but was really worried about one area that could bunch up riders in a competition. I believe it is still up in the air at this time, and no plans have been made.

I know that the track is really easy on tires as some of my customers ride there.

I don't think the CMRA looked at it.
I did and I was a BOD at one time.
I rode it and gave the owner my input. I think it will have to be seen during a TD to really know about how the track works.
He is going to do some car races eventually, but it will be w/ a kind of temporary permit, for lack of correct verbage, so the city can get a grasp on how it all works as well. He is interested in motorcycle races, but it is still at a wait and see. He is a really nice guy and had never even thought about having bikes there, but is very excited about the possibilities of having them.

I like the track, it seems to be easy, but more to difficult to go fast. Kinda like Oak Hill. IMHO

The wear is fantastically smooth - they look like slicks that have perfect tread down the middle I mean, they don't ball up at all...

I am REALLY looking forward to this year.

CMRA hasn't been out there. And, Keith got it right. Not interested in racing right now. Just want to be a good neighbor...

I think the smooth wear will eventually go away.
The track is still very green.

MSR was like that at first too, if i remember correctly.

Anyone heard what the fees are for the half day Friday track time? Moira has it down as "happy hour fridays."

As far as I know, it is just open track time all afternoon. No "sessions" like normal. It's also only for advanced riders. No beginner/intermediate. So, if you are in good enough shape, you could proabbly get in more time than a regular trackday.
