Honda's weren't always bulletproof. Back when I bought my first bike, I wanted a VFR and looked into them pretty heavily. I found out that the earlier chain driven honda V-4's had top end oiling problems details here which were fixable but you had no idea what condition the cams were in unless you pulled the valve cover and checked.

The 86 shouldn't have this problem since it's the newer gear driven design and they supposedly fixed the oiling issues. Just be thorough if you look at a vfr from 85 or older (or any old bike for that matter). Note that this includes Sabre's and Magna's from the early to mid 80's with the V-4.

Beside the fact that it's missing the tail section and "needs work", he's asking too much- should go for a grand or less depending on what the real deal is with it.

If he were asking $1200 for all the spares, parts bike and that bike, it may be worth it.

A buddy of mine just sold a running and clean titled CB-1 for $600.

The bike is fun to ride, handles well, and looks kinda cool for that era bike. I wanted one to race back then, but the Honda Hawk was better.

Parts are VERY hard to find for the CB-1, especially bodywork (like the tank/ tail section, etc).

I have no idea what bike you're referring to, this one was only made for 1 year (here) and was sold in '89/ '90. It's a 400 inline based off the Hurricane engine.

I agree it was a cool bike, I test rode one at SW Honda/ Suzuki when it was new and loved it. But it's certainly not worth his asking price imho, especially if it "needs work" to run and is missing so many parts.

I always thought they came with a dual seat??
Is that a mod or a seat cowl???

I saw a similar one only yesterday, in the flesh only a RD350LC.

His RZ came with the full seat, the pillion cover was an option.

Another bud of mine raced an RD with TZ bodywork... it was pretty sweet too. Those old Yammy 2 strokes had some serious power back then!
