hey guys, my name is julian and i just drove my buddy's ninja, and decided i wanted to get a bike. ASAP! any recommendations on a first bike, does anyone know anything about buell blasts? thank you.

some MSF courses use them.
Test it there!

You should ask yourself a few questions before you decide on a bike.

How $ you got to spend.
What kinda ridin you want to do.
Used or new.
Etc.

As far as the Buell Blasts go, they are not very popular but they are fairly inexpensive.
There are other options that might have better resale and service support, that still don't cost a ton of $.

i dont like buells. they shake way to much and theyre just not that comfortable, not trying to kill your spirits or anything, but i have never heard anytihng good about them, a guy at yamaha said he always had things coming loose form all the shaking and nothing good to say about them

^ My MSF course used 492 cc Buell Blasts, and the brakes are pretty good. A guy who had never even rode a fourwheeler before managed to accidentally perform a stoppie in one of the exercises. (not recommended)

I worked for Harley for a few years....

just something to keep in mind.... buell's can be a very torquy bike *(-blast)

but know that the RECALL book is bigger than the service manual....

up to 5 grand, i just want the bike to get me to work and what not, preferably used and 500cc or less, as this is my first bike.

take the safety course FIRST.... then shop around for bikes....

well... we are just trying to help you make an informed decision... buells will not hold their resale value... look around online, you will find them all day long for 1500-3000... (people grow out of them extremely fast)
