delay on bike

so i had everything planned and ready to go, i have MSF done, did some research and was looking to get a bike at the beginning of June and then my mom drops a bomb on me. She is not a fan of me getting a bike so she offered to pay for a year of my college if i dont get a bike right now, and thats worth at least $8000. I am fortunate and havent had to take out any loans yet and only have 2 years at the most before im done with UH and if i can go another year without taking out a loan that would be amazing. So, what im thinking is getting some practice in this summer with some friends, saving up as much as i can and then come around december getting a bike, see if i cant catch a deal on one when sales are down and then i would pay for part of the spring semester. Im bummed, i was really hoping to own a bike in a few weeks, but school is important and it wont kill me to wait a few more months on getting a bike.

she's trying to bribe you.

if she really loved you she would pay for the next year of college and buy you a motorcycle too.

That's a no-brainer: go with the school.

If you don't have the skills to talk her into school and a bike go w/school so you can afford to get a really cool bike.

better check again with Mom - I suspect the deal is "you go to school and forget about the bike for the entire school year and I will pay for the whole year - or nothing."

She doesn't want you to have a bike.

Go to school - less debt is better than any bike.

if she pays for the fall semester that would such a benefit and then hopefully i could have enough money saved up to go get a bike with out getting a loan for it, thus only taking out a loan for the spring semester, but if its not looking like i will have enough money then i wouldnt be to upset putting the bike off until next spring

Man I understand you being disappointed, but don't be. Keep your priorities in order for the time being. Get done with school get a job then you can probably get any bike you want. Do you have any ideal how many people would love to be the position you're in right now?

Def take advantage of school right now. Just think, there will be newer model bikes available to you next year.

+ a LOT

college = good job = bad toys

Although I would imagine she really doesnt want you to get a bike, and getting one latter wont make her happy. Maybe you can keep making deals with her.
