Azylum has rigged up some cameras like this I believe. He put one IN his helmet, looking out the mouthpiece.

Cool

There was a man at TWS (Texas World Speedway) last Sunday with one mounted to his helmet and he worked for or with urracingpix.com. You might give them a shout.

that is exactly why hard drive cameras dont work well on bikes. too much vibration, you'll ruin the camera.

mini DV is the best way to go if you want the camera to last.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ7K

Point and shoot that does good video and records to a SD card. It has a software limit of about 2 MB on the file size; that's just over 20 minutes on the best quality. I use 4MB cards with mine. It's small and lightweight, and cheap enough so if I wreck and break it, I won't be too heartbroken.

Here's a sample of the video it takes, compressed for YouTube, so don't expect too much. I didn't tape over the mic on this session, so all you have is wind noise. Later sessions, I put a piece of tape over the mic, and it was actually pretty decent. And, you can turn it on and start the recording with gloves on.

The mount was just a piece of sheet metal bolted where the mirror used to be by my left hand, and the camera bolted to the metal (SV650 naked). I'm tossing ideas around in my head to make a more vibration-resistant mount.
