Thumbs down Rider Down

I was riding home last night about 7:30 after takin my mom out to mothersday dinner and on the way home is when it happened. I was on a 2 lane back road that cuts by a small airport and goes right by my neighborhood. I came out of a tight 90 onto a short piece of the road before another tight 90. There was some in a ol skool dark green toyota tercel that drifted off into my lane coming head on. I swung over to the very edge of the road and then had to punch it to get clear of getting clipped. The bike lost traction for a split second on some loose gravel and then caught traction. I was in first gear and when it lifted it lifted all the way.

I remember the dumb face, the bike get loose and grab again, then the seeing the sky. I'm not sure if i rolled but i know i skidded on my back for a good 15 or 20 yards. I had 2 thoughts during the course of the crash. 1) When i saw the sky "oh s#!t this is gonna suck" 2) When i was on the ground "Just let ur body go with it and then flatten out".

Of course the DFB didn't stop. But i cant believe the guy who was behind me didn't stop. I got up pretty easily and walked over to where my bike finally ended up. She is totaled. She had to of gone end over end out into the grass on the side of the road. The whole end is torn apart as is the whole headlight assymbly and everything on the left side of the handle bars. The left side of the tank is rashed up real bad as well.

The only reason i don't think i'm that is because i walked away with very minor injuries compared to how my bike looks. My gear saved my azz. I was on the verge of buying the alpinstar mesh body armor to wear during the summer yesterday. The only reason i didn't buy it was b/c there was gonna be a sale this weekend on it. If i had been wearing that instead of my leather, my back woulda been rashed out horribly bad.

I have a pretty bad blood blister on the side of my thumb, bruised the meat of my hand, swollen thumb, burn on the inside of my elbow from the material inside of my jacket and a lil bruised on my back. Believe me, i know how lucky i am. A hundred other things could have happened that could have made that my situation a lot worse. The bike is just a material thing. I'm just glad my wife or my daughter weren't on the back when it happened.

I'm sad to say these are the first pics of my bike i've posted. She was coming along so nicely too. I shed a tear for my Akra. I gotta call Brad and cancel the rest of my order. (sniffle)

+1 ...frame still looks pretty good though it's hard to really say as much without thorough inspection. Looks like alot of cosmetic/aesthetic damage to me...

what is it with these houston drivers hitting motorcyclists and keep driving. if i hit someone, which i dont expect would ever happen because i ALWAYS double check, but I would definitely pull over. But that is sad that the other guy didn't even stop for you. There is some low people here I swear. Good luck on it, hopefully you can get it back on the road.
