ATTN:ALL INSURANCE PEOPLE

I have a question about insurance, if someone has liability insurance and they borrow your car and wreck it does thier insurance cover your car since it was not thier car?

yes! it's like a rental car or temporary substitute.

If u rent a car, and return it damaged, ur insurance company can pay for the damages under your liability property damage coverage.

So if u let ur friend borrow ur car, he wrecks it, his liability will pay for ur damages and ur liablity will pay for the person he hit, if he doesn't have insurance then ur policy pays it all

^^^there ya go.

hey candy...won't that be considered a claim against your (person loaning car) insurance though and can still negatively affect you right? Even more so if the borrower doesnt have insurance to cover your car?

HOLY !!!! Yeah FILE AGAINST THEIR LIABILITY insurance which at the time of the rental, u should be obtaining from ALL CUSTOMERS:

1. The policy number and company thru
2. verify the policy is gonna be active and is still active during the time of the rental THRU THE COMPANY
3. verify WITH THE COMPANY what they're "Property Damage Liability" limit is and that it provides coverage to rentals and that it is enough to repair/replace the vehicle they are loaning.

Whenever a customer rents a vehicle from enterprise and refuse to purchase the insurance there, we get a call from a rep, verifying the policy is still active, the limit of pd, and whether or not the policy will extend to rentals.

that's sh*tty!!! Every time I've had to use one of YOUR vehicles while you fix mine I make sure to find someone else to drive my drunk home so I don't wreck yours leaving you high and dry.

Thats messed up. You loan them your car and they do that to you? What kind of friends are those?

it's customers, not necessarily friends. Either way, you provide a FREE loaner at no cost for THEIR convenience and they go destroying your vehicles while under the influence.

yeah, but I don't think it's so much about Tim and Lisa making money on the loaners as much as it is a convenience to the customer and keeps them coming back....kinda silly how someone will have so little respect for other peoples things and take them for granted.
