Unhappy Surgery Tomorrow w/ Motorcycle Doc Sanders

Well, I went for a consult with Dr. Sanders today and I have surgery tomorrow morning. Sunday's crash at Grand Sport left me with a broken collar bone. It has gotten worse rather than better over the last couple of days. I have been able to feel the bones moving in my shoulder and this has apparently allowed additional pieces of bone to come off. It is now 1.6cm too short. He is going to remove some bone from my leg to rebuild/graft my collar bone. I am NOT looking forward to this. I can feel the bone poking the muscle in my shoulder.

Several people on this site have used him in the past with good results and he comes highly recommended. He is one of the best around for sports injuries. He is an avid biker and seemed pretty cool.

Has anyone on here been through this? What should I expect? I am not too excited about going under the knife.

Is this with Dr. Sanders off of Fannin with the Orthopedic Specialist office? If so great choice he took care of my daughters broken femur.
Having had 2 recent shoulder surgeries I can say from experience you will hurt and you will get mad because things just don't go the way you want them too. But it will get better Take care

Same guy. He sounds like he is very good.

I have been in serious pain since Sunday. I can barely stand it right now. The bone hits the muscle, the muscles spasm and makes it worse. I know it may hurt but if it starts getting better soon, I can deal with it.

Mmmmmm....stem cells for breakfast.... Can you get those at McDonalds?

I am just hoping it won't get much worse. Props for telling it like it is. I will know soon enough.

I just got got cleared for for duty (military) by Doc Sanders. He did my collar bone seven weeks ago. I don't envy you, want a play by play?

About a minute after you wake up in a ton of pain he will walk in and say "Raise your hand." You will raise it just about straight over head.

The next day you will go see Ed for therapy and he will make you HURT!

Continue therapy and at home workouts. YOU WILL BE IN PAIN!

Seven weeks out from surgery, eight weeks from breaking my collar bone, and I am running and working out like it never happened, been doing it for a couple weeks. I did my first push-ups ten days after surgery and my first pull up after two weeks. FOLLOW YOUR REHAB INSTRUCTIONS!!! Take lots of calcium.

Tell Yvonne "Mike says Hello" for me. She's the one in the office.

Oh, get the CRYO cuff if you don't already have it.

You need a better anesthesiologist...or tell your surgeon to give you more pain meds.
