Austin Riders

so i was in austin this past weekend visiting the girlfriend and i noticed that atleast 3 out of every 5 riders i saw rode with no gear and surprisingly a lot of them were in shorts...just wondering but is it always like this or just the recent nice weather?

tanning and riding...

I was there a couple of weeks ago and noticed the same thing. It's all that hippie smoke in the air up there....I think

I lived there when i was going to college. 9 out of 10 riders are big time squids.

I can second that.

I was in full leathers and got laughed at dusk in north austin. They asked where I was headed I said Houston. Both stopped laughing right away and asked 'serious?'..... Cafe racers....

yup thats how austin is. The funniest i saw was on campus, this fool on a blue and white gixxer was wearing shorts, shirt, and a helmet, but he was like 3 times the size of his bike. I'm thinking they just didn't have jackets in XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL

depends on where you go in austin. not all riders out there do the t shirt, shorts, and helmet setup but some do. ive seen a lot of riders in houston lately on 45 riding without any gear as well. austin is a great place to ride (2222, lime creek, 2431, ...) and there are a lot of riders out there with sense to wear gear.

I wonder what this guy was wearing:

http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=3...999999999,,0,5

Forever enshrined on Google Maps...

btw, I'm quite sure bicyclists, joggers or local home-owners out there on Limecreek put gravel in those 15mph curves. Riders will go out and sweep them clear just to have them full of pea gravel again the next day...

Good people those.

btw, I wear full gear all the time here in North Austin. Not full-leathers very often but always full gear (textile/mesh)
