why shouldnt i get an rs50?

so i'm selling my sv650 and getting blackwidow's rs50 if everything goes as planned. my parents had a serious sit down and talk with me about why i shouldnt do this.
a buddy of mine just emailed me and was basiclly saying 'dude wtf r u doing, why?!'

to me it sounds like heaven. the bike weighs about as much as me and i can ride at wide open throttle and stay in the speed limit. i think this would be a great bike to learn on for about a year or so (been riding since about sept 08) and then maybe keep it when i'm ready to move on or get rid of it and get that much more of a bike for my money.
people are talking to me like im throwing my money away, but im just so exited.
and the gas mileage... sheesh!

my wife seems to be the only person who doesnt think i'm doing something stupid. she just wants me to do whatever makes me happy. everyone else wants to pee on my parade.

I'll chime in pretending its not my bike...

SV650 VS. RS50

In terms of Gas Mileage, I would probably keep the SV650.

In terms of Looks, RS50 hands down - just post a picture of your "current" SV650 and my RS50.

In terms of reliability, SV650.

In terms of maintence - eh, this could go either way. People say two strokes are easy to work on so I'd lean towards the RS50.

In terms of street riding, SV650.

In terms of Fun Factor, RS50.

In terms of noob, starting riding and wanting to learn, both are fine.

In terms of highway riding, SV650.

In terms of city riding, RS50.

In terms of insurance, RS50.

You also gotta keep in mind, these bikes really are two different bikes altogether. It's not like we're comparing SV650 VS Ninja 650 or the RS50 VS NSR50. The SV's V-twin tech, and the RS50 is a two smoke. I'd suggest you sit down and think about this one very well.....

If I was in your shoes, and HAD to pick I'd probably go with the RS50, Coz I know I can ride it around the city, ride it @ the mini meets and tracks, and looks a heck lot cooler then any SV650 out there (street).

What ever you do - just stick to the lower displacement stuff since your still learning

Yes, but can the RS50 TIME TRAVEL?

SV650 from the future, hands down.

not in a city like houston. if you lived in some small town, or in a downtown enviroment, i'd say go for it. but with the way everything is spread out in houston there's no way i'd be happy with a 50 as my only bike. it's way too limited on where you can go. the sv will do everything you'll be able to make the 50 do at your skill level, and you'll still be able to take it down the freeway, down to galveston, to austin for the weekend, etc etc etc.

No! THE NO!!!

Keep the SV. it pwns the rs50 in every aspect. You'll be miserable on the 50 in houston or anywhere. Drop some $ in the SV(suspension upgrade + a damper).

Sorry Moe

my sv is good mechanically, and the paint has really grown on me- it matches my jacket perfectly, by pure coincidence.
the problem i have with it though is that the thing has some bureaucratic issues. the title is clean and blue, and i do have it after i though i had lost it, but the previous owner never registered, and we didnt do a bill of even trade (or whatever it is called) the title office has been a total pain in the to work with and i just dont have a lot of time to sort this out. it sounds pretty simple, but it has been a major problem for me. recently the plate fell off, so it has been parked for about 1 month. the bike fired right up when i turned it on 2 days ago to move it to my new house, but i just really dont want to bother with the title junk. i want to try something different and lighter, but i dont know if i want a ninja 250. im pretty sure i'd rather have a rareish exotic-ish bike like the rs50, rather than a ninja 250. an rs250 would be the , but thats not happening.

how the do you have a title if the owner never registered it ? are you sure you aren't just holding the MSO ?

The title issue is a mute point when it comes to the decision on getting an RS50. I can roll my wheelchair faster than that thing. It is classified as a moped when you register it. Hybrid electrics are going to be honking at you to get out of the way on it. If you buy the RS50 for a streetbike, you are an idiot plain and simple. If you want it to race CMRA or TMGP then go for it.
