Riding to work...

This topic has come up time and again in the past, but I figured our newer members will be facing this as the riding season is upon us.

To kick off the discussion, on the second day of my new job I was putting my gear in a safe spot and was told by a supervisor "hey, don't ride your bike to work. i have a 'busa and i dont ride it to work... it's just stupid. i drive my ram because it makes more sense" I responded with the fact that it's my only vehicle and he said "well, i dont know what to tell you, but don't ride it to work"

I wanna hear those stories of hurt co-workers and bosses!

why aren't you allowed to ride it to work? I don't understand?

There's at least 5 or 6 cruisers in the back of my building every day, and a duc every once in a while... the other buildings have a few riders too. (even a few lurking on this board )

lots of people at my job ride, we even have a designated parking area up from that's blocked by pile-ons.

I rode to work this morning with another lady in my dept who rides a harley and lives out by me.

I think its really just dependent on the higher ups' views on bikes in general. Some of us ride to work pretty much on a daily basis because the managing partners at the firm ride alot. like ridiing to sturgis and daytona riding. I am glad I work where I work. now diesel trucks on the other hand....

I ride, we have about 6 to 7 bikes total at the three different buildings.
We are moving to Greenspoint this month so even more people are talking about riding. I honestly didn't know that so many people at my job have bikes. , one guy has a very, very clean CB-750 that he converted to a CAFE style bike, back in the '80's

I've never had any probs... couple co-workers ride on occasion. One of my bosses, and one of our project managers rides once in a blue moon. Couple weeks after I started riding in, talked with the project manager that has a bike... and we were able to get a couple spots marked for MC only parking near the entrance.

ride to work...

I ride to work as often as i can . I go business to business and fix computers, so i need to carry alot more stuff than I can on my stripped down cruiser. plus there are only 8 ppl at my entire job, so there is no policy on bikes, because I am the only one that owns one

I wear a suit to work.

lol tips

more thread counts help with the wrinkles.
buy a moto jacket that fits over your suit.
kinda pull your pants up before you get on.
and dont wear cuff links. you will lose them. or catch them on your gloves.

the main thing are the shoes that get messed up. I always keep some shoes at work and wear my boots.

tried and true lol.

i don't think they can legally tell you "you can't" ride to work, but i'm sure if it's an unwritten rule, they can make your life difficult.

worse comes to worse there's always the AMA.

There are ways where they can make you not be able to ride. (there is a thread on it already)

I think he (and I) meant a business suit and tie.

I get front row parking ... another benefit ... is that because I don't have to fight for closer parking, I can leave home a little later in the morning.
