*** NEED HELP *** honda cbr 900rr issue

whats going on bros and sis. My name is nick by the way and i been on a few of you guys rides(hooters etc..)

I used to ride a 02 gsxr 600. but now I may have a chance to get a 900rr

see here is the deal. I got this guy who has a 93 900rr fireblade. the price is 3300 but the deal is.

he said that he thought the stator was out. but it seemed to be just a loose wire. now he is saying its not starting, or cranking. wont even turn over.

he thinks its a electric issue. but he hasn't taking the time to look. I am suppose to go check it out tom morrow.

my question is, with the small info i have given you guys. What key things should i be looking for to see whats wrong with it. basically why is it not starting. he also stated that the battery was changed 2 months ago. and he was riding before it stopped starting. which was prolly 3 wks ago.

by the way it has 54k miles. Please help me out bros. Im ready to ride again badddddd.

my buddies r6 had the same issue. before you replace the stator, check the rectifier. usually under the seat or on underside near rear suspension. it died in dec. we put a new battery and that fixed it. 2 months later it died again. put a new battery. it lasted a day. turns out the harness for the rectifier had melted and was shorting out. check wires to from stator and rectifier. then replace rectifier. if that dont work replace stator. would be my suggestions. hope it works out for you!

There is one on ebay right now for $80. If it's the stator, look to pay double that.

I think a 93 900RR with 54k on the clock for 3300 is too pricey. Just my opinion though. It certainly may be worth that if it's in pristine condition, but by the sounds of it, I think that's a lot of money for a bike that won't turn over.

^^ +1 to that

Not trying to put the bike down, but you can get an older bike that's running in decent condition for that much. And probably less miles too....

3300? :/: we paid $2700 for Jason's 99 900rr with way less miles and in perfect condition. We even got an extra set of tires and a bike ramp thrown in...

Thats a very good deal and you got lucky to find that.
I would not buy another carberated bike, hard to start when its cold and my rectifirer is out on my 900 and I need to get a new battery and rectifirer. This happens alot on 900's
