Matt I think what he is saying is:

He pushes his top speed button with the engine running. For some reason he does it this way. Not too sure if this is right or wrong. Just always done it with my bike on but the engine off. He is saying that when the bike is cold and he does this. It causes his RPM gauge to drop from 1500 to 1000. For what reason I do not know. But he is saying it doesn't do this when it is warmed up. My advice would be press the button when the bike is off like everyone else. But I am going to try this out on my bike tonight and see if I get the same results.
