How 'bout experience with A-Star gloves of any sort?
Are they good, do they hold up in a crash, are they durable or fall apart after 6 months?

I have the 2006 A* GP Pro's and the 08 GP Techs.

Got the Pro's brand new for $120 and they lasted me 16k miles, and two crashes. Saw summer heat, rain, freezing temps, etc. . . before starting to get a hole in my left middle finger. I DEFINATLY got my moneys worth. After they gave out, I figured I'd step up to their top of the line glove, the Techs. Paid about $175(retail 240) at a small garage place. Got them about a week before the n00b day at MSR-H. Lasted one fairly slow lowside out there, and about 1,000 street miles. I was out on the bike during the scavenger hunt and we rode through a little rain. The next day I noticed a seam was ripped on my left pointer finger at the tip, and a seam on the inside of my middle finger was open as well. I would understand something MAYBE coming apart in a crash, but these parts of the glove never came in contact at all with the road, as my hand only slid on the pinky side for a short time.

Overall I've had great experiences 'testing' A* products, so I chalk the GP Techs up as a freak occurance.

Thanks that's good info. I've read that they have a spotty record with seams coming apart, not so much in a crash as just from general use.

I read probably 100 reviews on the gloves, and the problem I heard about with them is the glove can fit a little tight around the knuckle/palm area, and they take a while to break in. I have little girlie hands though, and it wasn't a problem for me.

Each place the seam separated is only about half an inch, so it's easy to fix. As long as it doesn't keep happening then I'll be happy with them, and consider the $174.24 money well spent.

+1. I have the '08 Pro's and really like them. I will be replacing them with the same thing soon...this time in the right size.
