Suspension Setup

Best $25 (at Motorcycles Unlimited) you could ever spend on your new toy.

If you haven't done it already, you really should consider it. Depending on how your bike is already set up, it could make a world of difference, it did for me.

My rear end was really stiff when I got my 04 ZX-10R and turning on it felt, I guess I could say, unatural.

I gotta give a big thanks to Motorcycles Unlimited for setting it up. I've owned 3 bikes in a lil over a year and I've had them set up everyone of them. I'd say its the first thing you should do to your bike when you get it

So go see Motorcycles Unlimited or whoever you so choose and get r done

-Gary

I need to do my research on suspension, I don't know a whole lot about how to do it and what effects what

Maybe Patrick can chime in with what is normally changed/adjusted during a suspension setup

I don't think they'll let you leave it there. It won't take long, and they will need you to get on the bike to attain your measurments.
Takes like 30 mins max. Well worth the wait.

Very general, but that said you can adjust it yourself but why not have someone who has done multiples for all situations/driving condition do what they do best and set yours up statically. you can always fine tune it and play with it once it is set for your weight and riding preference.

There isnt a replacement for experience.

You normally set up ride height, then front and rear damping settings.

you MUST set sag before you can set anything else on the suspension.

I got the suspension on my ninja 500 adjusted lol, but had the zx6r for 12k miles or so and haven't touched it. I haven't had any issues with it and enjoy the neutral feedback that it has, so i guess the 'if it aint broke then dont fix it' method applies in my case

Yea, I need to get mine set up too...I never had the sag set for my weight since I bought the bike.

Thanks for the reminder...well worth $25.00 for proper set up.

Brandon at Motorcycles Unlimited set my GSXR up for me a while back. The stock settings were way f'ed up according to Brandon.
Combine the set-up with the new pair of Pilot Powers I had put on at the same time and the ride home felt like a different bike. It was amazing how much confidence a well set-up suspension inspires.
