yea couple years back some lady got shot in broad daylight jogging on the seawall side. police said it was a random shooting or something.

it hasnt been as bad lately. it used to be way more crowded and way more crime.

They have all but about canceled "beach weekend" this year.
No sponsors, no bands, nothing organized etc. From what i have been reading in the papers anyway. just too much trouble for little to nothing returned. The kappa frat hasn't been a part of it for several years now i think.
just alot of young bruthas and sistas showing up and acting like fools. The shops are tired of getting ripped off and just don't open for this weekend.
later

good for the shop owners.... they all go down there and act like thugs and scratch their heads and wonder why they get no respect.

I worked for my dads' friend at one of his stores during Kappa weekend couple of years back. it was crazy in a funny way. I think the wannabe ghetto white girls were funnier than the lil thugs.

That's what was going on!
I was down there yesterday and saw them setting up all the barricades...I saw a few other bikes (not a whole lot) and asked one guy what was going on. He said, "I think there is some sort of bike rally" that knew what was going on b/c he was w/a big group! I guess they were still setting up b/c it wasn't real crowded yet so I did a few laps on the seawall and headed back up to the mainland...

Best part is I can now say I took the bike down to Kappa

Yeah I would avoid Galveston like a plague I went the other day and some fckg dumbass attempting a wheelie on the sea wall almost hit me and the bad part of it was we were going in opposite directions. He honestly came with in a foot from me and my bike.
