update on coach garza..
April 18, 2008 (Friday)

Today was another miraculous day for Ray and Katy. Ray had surgery to cover up the open wound on his foot. All went well…prayers are once again being answered! Ray had an EEG done Thursday to see if he was having seizures. The results were in, and sounded very promising! He is showing no signs of seizures, praise ! He does have some decreased brain activity, but that may be due to the sedative medications he is being given. Today, the doctors decided to give Ray some pain medication along with his sedative meds. He had been having periods of agitation, thus the EEG to rule out seizures. They feel that the agitation was due to the pain he was experiencing. The pain meds have helped him be more restful, which his body so desperately needs right now to heal. Ray will be getting a feeding tube placed soon. He has a narrow nose (that Garza nose thing again!), so they were having a little difficulty. Pray for an easy placement of the feeding tube. Also, within the next few days, they will begin weaning him off the ventilator. This is a HUGE step! Pray for an easy transition for Ray.

He is a fighter, and is a strong man…

Katy is tired, of course, but is surrounded by family and friends. She continues to be a pillar of strength…again, a testament to her faith. She mentioned that when she is with Ray, she can FEEL the prayers that are enveloping him. We can all be assured that Ray is being held in ’s hands right now. Keep those prayers coming! Katy’s children came to visit her today. They went to the park and fed the ducks, and, of course, all asked to see Ray. There is a program offered through the hospital that helps children better understand what is going on, and possibly prepare them to see their loved ones. Katy is going to inquire about that tomorrow. A very specific prayer for Katy is that she can be discerning about her children, and to do what is in their best interests during these difficult days. Please pray for Chavez, Tony, Theresa and Anna. Those little ones are probably confused right now, and need to have peace about their daddy.

Our can give that to them!

The outpouring of support continues to amaze everyone. Word has spread way beyond the Texas borders, and it is awe-inspiring to see how much Katy and Ray mean to everyone. We are witnessing a miracle in the works here…the goodness of people and the grace of are so tangible. Continue to pray, and praise! It truly is amazing.

I heard this rumor as well. This is unknown at this time. I have heard lots of things, but if they aren't directly from the family I am not posting them so as not to be posting incorrect info.
