and if you do mess up your doo, cuz of the ground, you'll have other things to worry about.......... :eh:

*** i met a guy, went down on his HD, hit a pole, they removed a piece of his skull to relieve the pressure from his brain swelling. well that was around the time of hurricane allison. well his hospital lost power long enough that they could reuse his piece of missing skull. he know wears a skateboard helmet 24/7 cuz he had (been a while since i;ve seen him). but as long as your doo is good.............. :BangHead:

Word... more not wearing than do. Population control at its finest.

The nice thing about it, though, is that it's MY choice. There's no law making me do what common sense should.

Bullshit... there are too many laws on the books as there is and it needs to remain a choice. Government need not meddle in people's lives when they should be using common sense, instead. I don't think there needs to be a seatbelt law, either, except to protect the children. We have hashed on this ad nauseum. That's all I have to say about that.

the counter to that is, if you crash w/o a lid, and have no medical ins. who pays for it? me and you, so then it affects the gen. public.

OK.. .here we go...

Then why not be lawfully-mandated to wear safety glasses when grinding on metal? Why not be lawfully-mandated to wear welding-masks when welding? Helmets for sky-diving and rock-climbing?

maybe not lawful, but i guarantee the co. you work for requires you do wear them, i have to wear a hard hat/steel toes/safety glasses when i goto a plant, i've also had to shave my goatee before.........or i don't get in. so the public sets its own rules , so the gov't doesn't have to. they have othere things to worry about, like anna nicole getting her $......

if the gov't requires you to wear a seatbelt, why not a lid? PACs thats why.......

as for the skydiving/rock climbing, fringe sports, not enough peeps do it to worry about vs motorcycling.

and does TX have a helmet law?

While you're correct about OSHA standards in the workplace, weekenders and hobbyists don't have a company mandate. They have the CHOICE to where them or not. I can GUARANTEE you many are out there with little to no insurance.

Fringe sports or not, by YOUR argument, we're going to be paying for their lack insurance, so why not madate they have protective gear?

Also - You ever wonder why helmets are called "brain buckets"? It's because they're like having a 5MPH bumper on a car.
