Check the battery levels. I had the same thing happen and checked the battery and there was no water in it at all!! Added water and charged battery and have been good to go ever since.

Use a flathead screwdriver and pop off the lids to the battery cells. The lids are located on the top of the batt. You will have to be careful and not short out the screwdriver to the positive terminal. The lids to the battery cell will have to be pryed off if they dont come off easily, and dont smoke when around the batt. Do this in a well ventilated area.

Wear rubber gloves and safety glasses
uhh , did I miss anything??

i would only buy a maintenance free battery and Wal-Mart ,Auto Zone don't have them. i would say go to a bike shop and get one. You don't want to f up your bike so go with a maintenance free battery.

I checked with wal-mart. She said that they don't carry one for my bike. Autozone had one but I didn't ask about maint. free.

Anyone know the type batt. I need for my 2006 ninja 500r ??

Make sure that it's Distilled Water from the store.

Tap water contains impurities that will shorten the battery life.

.. here I let mine sit for two weeks at a time.. there is no telling how much dust is in there.... LOL!!!

No reason to crank it every couple days.. now let it sit for a month and that could be an issue.
