saw a cop, (no helmet, no jacket, no boots) the other day on a busa that said police down the side of it at 2351 and 45s, could not tell where he was from though, they are also using a white charger w/ white reflective letters on the side up and down 45 in the s.e. area very hard to see these letters until your right upon them

Kawasaki EX500 (on loan from a friend)
Pending, bikeless once the 500 gone :-(
Want Husky 510SMR or KTM 690 SMC to continue the hooligan activity

i was told that the officers have to supply their own bike... so they choose the bike type, but they have to pay for it themselves... AND have their own insurance if they are at fault...

how messed up is that for people doing one of the riskiest jobs there are!

all leo bikes are privately owned by the officers. dont know the exact details harley also has a program with officers in which they buy back their bikes every 2 years for what they paid for it. the reason you see so many used road kings police (different seat, and suspension i think) for sale at stubbs telephone.

coolest leo bikes i have ever seen were webster pd's bmw riding officer and austin pd's zx14 riding officer.

I saw the scooter cops today too lol. did not look like hpd but was in houston so who knows.

I had been wondering about that... someone was telling me about how he was going to get this old Kawi 900 police bike or some such for his first bike, and thought it was weird he could have it since it isn't debadged or anything and he isn't a leo yet. Turns out who ever owned it is/was a cop.

The people on the scooters aren't police officers. They help out with traffic control on anything major that happens on the roadways and try to clear minor accident out of moving lanes of traffic.
