I would start from that bike, and replace broken/missing pieces. If you want to ride to honor your father, you should probably ride the same bike. That's what I would do. Being on a different bike would be the same as just getting a new R1 IMO. Great idea. Ask yourself what would your Dad want.

How bad is the frame? repairable?

I agree w JP87 above, plus if you're investing in an already wrecked bike the front end may be damaged as well

Well since Ive taken those those pics, i have completely broken down the bike and boxed it up. Theres no way the frame of forks can be fixed, and I'm still on a somewhat low budget. If i were to buy another r1, I would put everything that my dad put on his r1 to make it his bike onto the new one.

I think if i could find a hookup on a clean frame and forks, I could have the bike completely rebuilt this summer.

Anyone got any hookups on clean frames?

If you need to run wires and fix a part of the harness, I can do that and for this cause be happy to... but this harness above looks to be 115 after shipping

Well to be honest, I'm not exactly sure if I sill have the old harness. I stripped the bike down last winter, and I'm not exactly sure what I still have or don't have.:/:

Sorry to hear about your father man, that's gotta be a terrible thing to have to go through. Was there a thread on it somewhere? As far as the R1, what do you think your dad would want you to do?

Now that time has past, my family has began to realize that me rebuilding the bike and riding it means alot to me. They are for the idea, but they said I'm on my own when it comes to doing it.:/: I know that my dad wants me to keep on riding untill I possibly can't ride anymore. It runs in the family. I will need all the help I can get when I start this project.

Cameron,
Any parts from an '02 - '03 R1 will work, as well as some parts from the '04 - '06.
Try Sams Cycle Salvage or Paco over at Power Toys for a frame.

Tell them I sent you, they'll treat you right.

Also, put together a list of parts you need and e-mail it over to me and I'll start keeping an eye out for them.
