Chain Broke while ridin

so was riding late night the other night coming back from humble on the beltway headed towards i-10 going pretty fast(140+)..no one on the road at 230am..when i feel something give out on my bike...thought i hit something/ran over something or had a flat tire...coasted into a shell station got off and looked..come to find out my chain broke off..took some chunks off the swing arm and other parts of the bike...and riped my jeans.. got lucky that it didnt lock up or anything.

Like everyone else said, you are lucky. A broken chain while riding can get hairy fast.

I'm curious...

- Miles on chain?
- Been doing normal lube and cleaning every 500 miles or so?
- Chain size?

Just wondering what might have caused it to break.

lucky it didn't double over and wrap up, taking out your water pump, sprocket cover, clutch rod, engine case, and possibly locking up your rear tire.

I guess that just happens to me lol.

Umm, you're lucky...140 on the Beltway...be glad you're still alive...Same thing happened to me....I walked away, but unfortunately I split the tranny cover when the chain doubled over. Let me go find the thread and I'll paste the link.
