joe rocket or a star?

I figured I would trust the brand names that I've heard the most (sidi boots, scorpion helmet) and I can't decide on joe rocket or alpine star jacket and pants. I was mainly looking at these choices, just wondering if the price is worth it. any thoughts?

Joe Rocket Speedmaster 5.0 Perforated Leather Pants - 329$
http://www.newenough.com/protective_...cle_pants.html

Joe Rocket Sonic 2.0 Perforated Leather Jacket - 315$
http://www.newenough.com/protective_...le_jacket.html

OR

Alpinestars Track Leather Sport Pants - 380$
http://www.newenough.com/protective_...ort_pants.html

Alpinestars Stage Perforated Leather Jacket - 380$
http://www.newenough.com/protective_...le_jacket.html

I will be trying to find some better prices for these hopefully, but which would the majority of MH suggest? (feel free to mention any other ideas for jackets/pants also)

I'm getting alpinestar gloves, which led me to look at what other gear they had (I don't care if it matches, just want the jacket and pants to zip together)

I have the same A* jacket and pants you linked. I haven't worn the pants yet but I wear my jacket every time I ride. Even in 100deg heat, it's not horrible since it's perforated.

So, with that said, of course I'm going to recommend the A* combo you have listed! I got my jacket for like $350 so you should be able to do better than those prices listed. The price on the pants is pretty standard. Do you plan on riding the track soon?

I have the J-Rocket Speedmaster perf'd pants - They're great - unfortunately tested them 4 times now - fortunately - not a tear, weak seam or hardly a scuff. Also have the Speedmaster jacket (don't think they make the jacket anymore) Also like it alot. It's worn a little harder & had some minor leather repair done - no seam problems whatsoever. Next gear will be Komodo's 1-piece.

Alpinestars, I've had a couple of bad experiences with Joe Rocket, although their quality seems to have improved.

Come by and we can properly get you fitted, we've also got a good selection of gear in stock.

I looked at both and went with rocket (I've got the racing replica jacket and the supermoto pants, which I went over the speedmaster for the extra ventilation). Yet to go down on them but they are built really well and very comfortable. I tried on some A star stuff but I'm a relatively large framed guy and I just couldn't find the right fit.. small sizes just plain didn't fit, large sizes seemed akwardly proportioned. As far as quality I want to know if those who "have had bad experiences" with JR have been talking about their more expensive leather stuff.... cause I agree their cheaper mesh and textile stuff can be kinda spotty, but I haven't had any problems with their more expensive stuff.
Have you tried any dianese stuff? I think if I was buying leathers all over again today thats probably what I'd go with. They have some real nice stuff and it seems put together extremely well. This one suit of theirs, the whole back is one solid piece of leather, with no seams, looks very strong. Only reason I'd take them over the JR stuff is that my JR stuff is very thick leather and can restrict mobility and kinda tire you out after a day (resists moving more, holds in heat). The dainese stuff I saw was thinner leather and moved easier. It was also like $900 for the one piece though.

I got my leathers at Motorcycles Unlimited, their price was as good as the internet, I didn't have to pay shipping, I got to try it on before I bought it (with fitting advice) and i knew that if I had a problem Patrick would stand behind the sale.
Once you decide go see him.

Since you said we should make suggestions, I bought a Fieldsheer Flex full perf one piece. I really like it, the leather is thick and yet somehow soft.

You might wanna look into Fieldsheer stuff it is well made and reasonably priced.

Well while we are adding suggestions, I've heard several people say they had frank thomas stuff split at the seams... so you might want to avoid, though the company recalled some stuff a while ago and claims to have that issue sewn up.

haha sewn up.

nevermind.

oh as an update to this thread, cycle gear has a closeout on some real nice teknic 1 piece leathers, I guess they are "yellowed" where they are supposed to be white... look fine to me. I got their circular a few days ago, normally like $1800 leather for like $800 I think.

I'd try those before i bought either of the combos you listed above.
