You do realize this forum is a business that belongs to Chris, and what pays the bills is the sponsors.
Less threads = fewer people to see what the sponsors say. Why would they put money into the forum if fewer people are using it?
Of course I am not speaking for Chris, he may have a different view. This is only my dumass opinion.

It would not take business away from chris or mh at all. It would mean that threads are filled with less bs and more chit chat. Also the ads/sponsors could still be displayed on the chat page. Many many forums that I participate use chats and enjoy them. I could see this only being as one more cool thing to this site, not hurting it.

Maybe a trial period can be set up...if it seems MH is getting less money due to the chat...then the chat can go away...honestly...Chris/MH could set up a Donation paypal just in case our "brilliant" idea causes any problems. I honestly wouldn't mind coughing up a few dollars here and there...it is a great site I enjoy and supporting it wouldn't hurt. I mean it would be a donation, not like a ...you have to thing...but again...that is only my opinion...nobody get mad...lol...
