Thanks for the help guys...

Ok, info i have gathered...

Every bike has their ups/downs it seems. This is what i have found on thumpertalk.com after talking to some of the guys on there.

Yamaha...
+Most Reliable (Can go the longest without valve work)
+Strong motors
+Good suspension
-poor handling (front tire wont stay planted in the turns)
-Feel heavy in the air due to higher center of gravity

Honda...
+Handling is great
+Suspension is the best
+Light weight feel
+Power is good
-Valves need replacement frequently until 06 when that problem was fixed

Suzuki/Kawasaki...
+Handling is the best
+Motors are very strong
+Lightweight feel in the air
+Respond well to an exhaust
-Suspension could be better
-Had overheating issues in 04

The Suzuki/Kawasaki's (twins) have come a long way in motocross the last few years. They arent perfect but they all have their ups/downs.

Suzuki #1 would be my pick, those RMZ's are really great bikes and take the corners. My old 95 RM250 is still the best turning bike I have ever owned. If Suzuki still made a 2 stroke woods bike I would probably be on it.
The 265cc kit may keep you out of some classes though, if you plan on racing.

Not planning on racing.... yet. Im probably good enough to run an amateur D class but i ride for fun. Maybe after riding awhile i may really want to start racing.

Hands down the looks of the Rockstar RMZ kills the rest IMO! Only concern with the bike is the hours on the top end already and with an aftermarket top end and that many hours on it already makes me wonder how hard that thing was ran!

I personally had an 05 RMZ 250. Didnt get much time on it but WOW! I loved the handling, loved the power, it felt light in the air and was just an all around easy bike to ride and get used to. Im a little biased toward the RMZ for that reason but im not sure if its the best choice or not. Ive never ridden a CRF 250R or a YZ 250f....

The yamaha is a yz but your right, i believe it is heavier than the rest.

CRF is not an option. Just sold on ebay for $2500... His buy it now was $2700 and in the last 20secs, it went from $2325.00 to $2500.

Oh well, there are more out there... Besides, 06 is when honda fixed their valve issue. I dont think i would want a CRF after doing my research unless its an 06 minimum.

That's true. They sell a single side kit for it though.

Here's what my help on the other forums has boiled down to...

Stay away from the 04-06 rmz's. They say they are nothing but problems until 07. Crfs have nothing but valve issues until 06. Everyone says the yz 250f is the best choice to any other bike 05 or older as they are near bullet proof...

I'd vote for the Honda first, then the second Zuki would be my next choice. I like the Rockstar but I would be hesistant to buy a bike that's been bored already.

What happened to the one you bought the other day? You did buy one didn't you?

I am personally a Honda fan but I hear the valves are a horrible issue on the 05's and older. I'd buy an 06 but they seem to be $3000 and up. The yz's are nice. Not my favorite but like I said, I hear they are bullet proof but with that, you sacrifice some weight and handling. The rmz's handle the best and see light weight but are said to have a lot of maintenance issue until the 07 model. I suppose its all in how you maintain the bike and treat it though as to how long it will last. Its also personal preference and opinion as well.

And yeah, I'm hesitant on buying a bike already bored. I think it was a complete bolt on kit though but I'd have to find out for sure. I'm at a toss up which one to buy... Lol

Depending on what year, that's an average price. 02's and 03's can be had for $2000 or so. If it was an 05, its a good deal!
