Loud pipes save lives

Just record an unmuffled Harley and play it on an outside speaker.

My question is...what is a blind person doing walking in the streets? If they would stay on the side walks, whats the problem?

I hate these threads... all you people who claim loud pipes do not save lives need to go drive a large truck or bus for a bit to modify your stupid opinion. As a truck driver/bus driver I cannot count the times I took notice of a motorcycle that I would have otherwise run over or just plain did not see because I heard the exhaust reverberating through my trailer and inside my bus. Believe me especially in california where they split lanes. I hear those fuggers coming and take note of them so as to not change lanes on them. The ones that have always scared me were the quiet ones that I had no clue they were splitting a lane next to me until they passed my.

if you rely on your exhaust instead of being aware and watching other drivers on the road then your retarded. Motorcylcist are invisible to drivers.. no matter what noise you make or what you wear to catch their attention. drivers have a hard time not rearending the guy infront of him.. what makes you think they will notice a biker? and sure a loud exhaust can catch attention but if your crusing with a loud exhaust its gets quiet unless your at high rpm or accelerating.. go ahead and keep your bike at 8000rpm and catch their attention. I have a D&D on my bike and yes its loud but there has been many times where I have had people merge into my lane without noticing me. There has been many cases where grandma didnt pull over for a cop because she didnt notice the cop or hear sirens right behind her. So if your a biker you need to be aware and protect yourself and take MSF to learn different techniques to help save your life in certain situations, thus improve your riding skills. And we are in texas.. we can not split lanes.. and in cali if you split lanes it has to be at a certain speed not 80+ unless you have large :P

who said anything about relying on pipes to protect you? don't read to much into that all that speedy. I have 870,000 safe driving miles under my belt... I know what gets my attention while driving. nothing in the world protects you from idiots. every little advantage you can stack in your corner helps. I think the whole point of this thread was silent cars and blind people's safety. Yes blind people have to cross the street too. I can see where silent cars could be an issue.
