Question 1st service prices...

I'm about 10 miles from the 600 miles mark and need to get the oil changed/bike inspected by a kawi dealer to keep the warranty; right? Well does anyone know a cheap place? So far my dealer is telling me I'm looking at a minimum of $150....call me cheap but that seams like a lot for an oil change and a once over.

I'm not worried that it's too hard, I am only taking it to get an oil change b/c if I don't my warranty is voided.

Moody....at 600 miles do I still need to worry about break-in?

does Motorcycles Unlimited have a flat rate or does it vary?

I don't work on the motorcycle end of the automotive industry, but I don't think that they can legally void your warranty for not taking it to them. I remember Chrysler got sued a few times because they wouldn't release their trouble codes to the general public causing people to HAVE to take their vehicles to the dealer. If you can prove you've maintained your bike, I think you are in the clear. I have just kept all my receipts with the miles I changed it at, etc.

screw the warranty, u will either have sold the bike by then or crashed it. true story.

there are to groups of riders, ones that break it in slow, ones that break it in hard.

i broke my buddies r6 hard at 500 miles. redlined that . then we changed the oil. he didnt even stick around riding long enough for warranty to matter.

Wow....sound advice sir.

Talk to the Patrick and the dealership and be sure that his shop would suffice for the terms of your warranty, and if so take it to him and save yourself $100.

Not sure about the flat rate but, you can give them a call. 281-444-0545

Basicly you are past break in although most motors don't loosen up until about 3000 miles or so. Altleast that has been my experience. I think what you want is an oil change, valves checked and any other adjustments that may have stretch involved on your bike. IE cables, chain, etc...

I would just give them a call though. They should be able to tell you what they charge for this work over the phone.

The dealer is scamming you... don't buy into a $150 oil change.

As to break-in, I say break 'er in hard... just make sure to change the oil often.

Thanx for bike love...I think Ima end up going to Motorcycles Unlimited to save the money and also have an excuse to ride (nice 45 min. trip but even w/gas it's cheaper LoL). I'm sure there is stuff on the 1st check that are better left to a pro than a rookie trying to save a buck
