Yeeees. I'm not that dense. I guess I have always used it to refer offhandly to "one more than required"... ie 21 calls needed, 22 made. I'm aware its a bit off... but hey I have the right to be a bit insane per forum rules.

We need 21 Senators with a verbal yes... not 21 phone calls. I'm sorry that wasn't clear. I haven't heard anything today, not sure if quiet is a good thing.

Heh that's the fun part...those guys can be non-comittal as all heck.

I sent an email to shapiro in addition, asked that she search lane sharing/splitting accidents in comparison to motorcycles that had been rear-ended by cars/trucks and reconsider the safety aspect

UPDATE from Angie: (Policy Analyst, Senate Committee on Transportation and Homeland Security)

"We are trying to get the votes to bring it up before the full Senate. If we get them today we can bring it up tomorrow. So far we have 15 yeses, 3 no votes, and the rest are undecided. Any phone calls that you and others can make would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! "

We are SO CLOSE. Phone calls are right now the most quick way to get your point across. So... CALL. Call now.

@ train 460: you know when it should be at the house? We need to start calling the house reps now again to remind them to support. The website http://www.legis.state.tx.us/BillLoo...81R&Bill=SB506 runs behind what is actually happening it seems.

Other points--------------------------------------
For conversations sake here are a couple things we'll have to face if it passes.

1. Of course the normal people upset with "cutting in line" though Californians can testify they do it all the time and they still have morons who do to them... so what's new there.. should be expected.
2. A few tickets from officers that don't realize its been passed, hopefully carrying a copy of the bill will help with the conversation.
3. Somebody fighting a ticket for splitting at low speeds in the HOV and finding whether or not this law will be interpreted as allowing traffic traffic flow in that manner... I hope it wins, splitting in the HOV is the picture perfect example of the safest splitting you can do... only one side moves, going at low speed, and the what the other car going to do, rub into the cement barrier! (i've done it too many times and stopped due to not wanting those motocops who hide in the HOV traffic or at the side to get a ticket)
4. See how hard enforcment against splitting against a solid white will be ... ie one lane road bogged down, emergency lane open plenty of room, stuck... will it become the norm that bikers filter down it?
5. Polic interpretation of who's at fault in an accident if lanesplitter gets nicked or mirror taken off etc.

Lastly is a question... you are in rush hour traffic and nick/bump into somebodies mirror. Would you pull over to the emergency lane and go through the whole rigamarole? I'm curious.

So, he's on the Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security, and since he isn't Huffman nor Shapiro... we know he voted yes in Committee. HUGE thank you to him for that!!!

However, since it was a vote of 7-2, and was opposed - it will need to go to the Senate floor in order to move on to the House. That will happen today. If it was a vote of 9-0, or unopposed it would have moved directly to the House.

SWEET! I just watched SB506 pass the Senate! Suffered through lots of other Senate business on the live video feed to catch 506 getting the thumbs up.

Now on to the house...
