Azylum, I think nicknaming a Ducati "duck" is like self-deprecating speech. Or if someone else says it about your Ducati, it's like taking them down a peg or two as I think Ducati owners have a certain reputation for being a bit elitest as the Duc's are premium import bikes with premium price tags to go along with them. (Duc owners don't get upset. It's just a generalization)

Its Duc, short for Ducati. Its a term of affection for Ducati enthusiasts .... And for me too , I guess.

well see thats what got me curious, as its the Ducati owners i hear pronouncing it "duck", and ive heard it from several different people. dunno, it was something that was buggin' my little peanut sized brain and was just wondering.

Well.. I alwaqys thought it was pronounced 'Doo-Kahti', and as how Im often a dork. I refer to it as a 'duc', as one of the first I saw first-hand had been 'qwacked' up. :-)
