What about a buell blast?

Well Im still without a bike and its killing me! I got a little xr50 to give me my fix but its just not cutting it. Dont get me wrong, that thing is loads of fun, but I need to be back on a real bike.

The bike I really want is a sv650 or a Honda 919 but the they are kinda out of my price range right now. IM LOOKING TO GO CHEAP, REAL CHEAP!!.......Like spend maybe $1500 but if I good sv came along I just might have to. I really wanted racer x's but I couldnt commit.

Im figuring I could sell my xr and free up some cash from the bank and get something.

I dont want a ninja 250 or 500. Just dont like the body style.
What about a buell blast 500cc? Any opinions on those? Just something to piddle with but with still some power.

Im not planning on getting anything real soon but I want to start researching.

I know this might not be acceptable but...

If money is that tight for ya (I feel your pain) maybe you could consider something older like from the early 90's.
Might have to do a little wrenching but if you shop around you might find somethin pretty clean. Some of those old warhorses were pretty sweet (= fast).

Also think about something Chinese.
To answer your question I would stay away from the Blast, I have heard nothing good. The newer big bore Buell's are sweet, but the Blast is pretty limp.

I would look at something besides the blast. If you are considering the blast the ninja 250 will be similar to it more reliable and cheaper to fix.

Did you just get your bike from cl about 2 months ago? I was looking at that one and I wanted to jump on it.

I have an EX 250 and do not like your post at all. The only thing on the blast I would compare with the baby Ninja is the brakes. The blast has good brakes.

to take the engine out of the bike u have to take the whole bike apart, swing arm, rear rim, everything. to change the belt u have to take the swing arm off and rear rim. they made the bike to be thrown away if they need a repair.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion that is what a forum is about. I was simply trying to point the fact out that just because the bike has a bigger displacement does not mean it is a better bike than the Ninja 250.

The ninja is a better bike overall than a buell blast but people assume because the blast has more cc's its the better bike of the two.

I was just hassling you. I have really tried to like the Blast but I can't. It is not even a Honda rebel, maybe if I were to compare it to another bike it would be the Suzuki GZ250.

GS500 ftw!

you can get em dirt cheap and there arent as lame as people say. they never even rode one, most likely.

i recommend at least test ride one, then youll have an idea. mine is a POS but i might let you ride it around the block if you let me ride your XR

whack the throttle its got power in there, you just got to want it bad enough. a gs might give you a fix while you save up, plus its one of the best bikes to have with todays gas prices.

since nobody mentions these, you might check out the hyosung gt250. little bit more power than the old style ninja 250's, and they've got much better styling, very much like the new ninjas. i've seen them going between 1500 and 2k used, it seems like it's mostly because of lack of brand recognition so far.

and stay away from chinese .
