Got Speed?

Most of y'all out there are track type riders and aren't into the highend stuff, but I thought I'd pass along the following info. The Texas Mile www.texasmile.com is taking place in a couple of weeks. We're going to fire up my bike Tuesday and tune it on the dyno later this week. Barring any unforseen glitches I will be making the journey to Goliad the 22 & 23.

Another Texas Mile is right around the corner
October 22-23, 2005
THE TEXAS MILE has exciting news: If PINKS, www.pinks.tv the reality TV show on SPEED CHANNEL, is approved for a second season, then we are inviting them to THE TEXAS MILE at the Goliad Industrial Airpark for heads-up racing. Heads-up for a MILE!!!! Do you have what it takes? This is an official Driver and Car Search for six (6) competitors.

Be sure and save space to take your competitors vehicle home!

Street Motorcycle and Unlimited Class

STREET MOTORCYCLE - For those entering a speed group and not unlimited, we have simplified the competition and you will choose a class based on speed group only.

The object is for the rider to be the closest to the chosen speed group at the end of the mile (last 132 feet of the mile) in order to obtain a placement (1st, 2nd, 3rd) in his/her chosen speed group. Your speed certificate is based on your top speed run.

You get the best of both worlds: Compete for the best in your speed group for awards and points AND see the fastest speed you can achieve and have it documented on a certificate.

With unlimited runs and two days, you have plenty of time to do both.

For those running unlimited speed group, your classification will be based on cc's and power adders.

SPEED GROUPS
100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, 180, UNLIMITED or LSR

CC CLASS IDENTIFIERS FOR UNLIMITED
A - 499cc or below
B - 450cc - 599cc
C - 600cc - 749cc
D - 750cc - 999cc
E- 1000cc - 1249cc
F - 1250cc +

PLUS POWER ADDERS FOR UNLIMITED
No Power Adder, Nitros, Turbo, Supercharger

Attention ALL: WAIVER- this is not the complete waiver. You will be required to sign a complete waiver at the event.

This event was originally created to provide those with everyday performance motorcycles and cars a place to legally run their cars over the speed limit, over a short distance (1 mile), and build up to a speed below 175 mph.

There is a fire/rescue crew on sight and an ambulance. BUT, none of the safety requirements or safety crews guarantees your safety. You are entering this event at your own will and understand that it is dangerous and you could be harmed or killed. You enter completely at your own risk and you are not depending on anybody to ensure your safety or your well being or the safety or well being of those that are your guest or fans. You agree not to sue anybody and/or any company and your family/heirs and friends agree not to sue anybody and/or any company if you or them or harmed, injured or killed.

Safety Requirements for Motorcycle Class
1. Engine kill switch. Which will turn motor off in event of rider falling off. Fuel injected bikes can use tip over switch but will be checked at tech to make sure it works.
2. Tires will be ZR rated D.O.T. tires, front and rear.
3. Rear Axels must have cotter pin, clip, or safety wire to retain nut in place
4.Oil drain plugs will be checked at tech to make sure they are tight but at this time safety wire is not required..
5. Drive chains if using a clip type master link must either be safety wired or siliconed and must not have more than 1.5 of slack .on side stand.
6. Motorcycles without an air box for the crankcase breather return hose must have a catch tank for the breather.
7. Leather motorcycle gear. 1-piece or 2-piece suits must be worn. Must be zipped up at all times while on the racetrack or riding in the hot pit area.
8. KevlarT panels can only be used for expansion flexibility (arms and legs) and not to replace other large areas of leather.
9. Leather gloves with no holes or other openings except breathing pinholes.
10. Leather boots (or boots approved for motorcycle drag racing).
11. Helmets certified by the Snell Memorial Foundation and bearing 1995 (or later) approval stickers; or have the British Standards Institute approval sticker BSI 6658-A. All helmets must be full coverage (no open-faced helmets). Helmets, in the judgment of the Tech Inspector, must be in sound condition, including shell, liner and strap.
12. Shields or goggles of shatterproof nature and in sound condition.
13. Tear-offs are not allowed.
14. Texas High Speed Shoot Out prohibits hydration devices such as camel backs during race events.
15. Steering Damper for speeds of 140+

Houston to Goliad is about a 3 hour ride. We've been working on the bike for sometime now and this will be my first run in Goliad. If I get the bike this week I'll meet up with y'all out at the PP1.

there is no way an R6 or anyother 600cc bike will hit 170. My R1 will be close to hitting that with all its mods.. Well i know it will do over 170 but not a whole lot more, the highest seen registered speed on my R1 was 191 REGISTERED though, not actuall speed.

Well, my speedo is off i know that for a fact.

I saw 175 (INDICATED). The bike was redlined in 6th gear.
