I've actually been told by cops before that they are SOMETIMES more lenient if you slow down. I guess they (those that do) take it as a sign of respect and might even look for the next guy that didn't slow down....

BTW I always slow down, but try really hard not to let my front end dip.

what would you do if

you are riding on the freeway going above the posted speed limit 75 in the 65 and you look ahead and see a police radaring not far ahead and you know he clocked you at that speed. do you keep going your speed or do you slow down.
You slow down as quickly as possible. If you are speeding up or slowing down they can't get a reading.

NOT necessarily true. Let's put it this way, if he's already got a reading on you then it doesn't matter what you do. But if you see him before he gets a reading on you, slow down and QUICK. Don't worry about making it obvious. They have to get a steady reading.

I would/did slow down.

I had something like this happen to me about 2 or 3 years ago. I was booking down the interstate to Austin when I came over a hill and see a cop car ahead of me parked off the right shoulder clocking people.

As soon as I saw him, I knew he had me, so I slowed down. Crazy thing, though, is that the cop (assumingly trying to time me passing him on the shoulder) starts to pull out onto the interstate. When I see this, I, of course, slow down even more. Because I slowed down enough, when I reached him, he was actually in front of me on the interstate going maybe 30 miles an hour.

Knowing that he would bust me as soon as I passed him, I figured that I would just stay behind him. We didn't go far before he literally slowed down to about 15-20 miles an hour on the interstate. What did I do? Stayed right behind him!

All I could think the entire time was that surely he'll pull over, stop, and force me to pass. Nope! We drove for about a 1/4 to 1/2 mile like that until the first exit came up where I exited, pulled off on to some side roads and waited for about 30 min. Never got a ticket and never saw the cop.

Since it is harder for the radar to get a lock on a bike ( less mass to reflect the signal) I always slow down. Sometimes you still get the ticket sometimes you dont. I think if you slow down when you see the cop they are more lenient, it evens works with the cage too. I have been in situations where I know the PoPo had me dead to rights and either slowed down real quick or pulled over as soon as I saw them pull out and lots of times got away with a warning. Prolly something to do with the respect thing.

Running is never an option for me, as once you start to do it you are committed even if you are getting in over your head.

I always slow down, I don't stand on the brake or anything, just coast down to the speed limit.
