I had to post the link to the bike being sold because I also had to search. Anyways, I also agree you did the right thing. If nothing else at least maybe he'll consider getting gear, or a helmet minimum. I have to agree though, 04 636 as a 1st bike would most likely be unsafe. (There are always exceptions.) I'm sure you'd feel terrible if you saw him on the news later that evening.

I support your decision. Sometimes you have to go with your gut - and with what you believe in. If you sacrificed your feelings, you'd feel guilty anyway, even if nothing happened. And perhaps you made a good point they discussed later - and maybe the experienced caused his mother to put her foot down too. Good for all involved. He should at least get enough instruction to get a license!

I think there would be some very strong implications if you sold it to someone without a license, knowing he had no idea what he was doing, without insurance, and no gear, and just hoped for the best...

Good Job!

Hey guys i want to thank everyone for their support on this. I know the youngman is a memeber of this forum since it is the only place i have the bike posted for sale. Hopefully things will work out for him in the near future and he never knows what is in store for him in the future and i am hoping my conversation with his mom after he got in the car helps him in his path to becoming a safe rider.

You did do the right thing; people don't understand how precious life is and that we are mortal...

Overlooking gear is the worst decision for a new rider and not something to ever promote or encourage. Kudos to you and be patient, bike season is here and coming around...

You did the right thing man. If your bike is priced right and in shape, you will sell it.

You did the right thing.

People that have never ridden don't understand the dangers. Hopefully this changes the way he looks at bikes and safety.

Actually i gave his mom some advice that i hope she takes and told her i would do what ever i could to help them. The bike is in great shape and is alot of fun to ride. I know some people dont like the red tape on the wheels but hey what can i say it looks just like the little model one i have on my desk lol.

You did the right thing.. It was a gut feeling that you had about the kid and probably saved his life.

Ok here is a update for everyone on this. I spoke with Mom today and as much as i hate to say it the very next day the young man went out and bought a GSXR600 from someone on the forum. They gave him a helment to ride home with but moms is still worried to death about him out riding it right now. I gave her the contact information for Awesomecycle so she can get him the MSF and she says she will contact them as soon as possible to get him the class.
