Spc. Joshua Molina 20, Elsik H.S. '05, Houston, TX: Thursday 04/03/08

SHORT NOTICE ESCORT HOME tomorrow THURSDAY April 3rd

Confirmed: Spc. Joshua V. Molina 20, Houston, TX, 3 April 2008

Spc. Joshua A. Molina, died in Baghdad on Thursday 27 March 2008 from injuries he suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. Molina was assigned to the 1st Squadron 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment stationed in Vilseck, Germany. His tour of duty in Iraq was scheduled to end in November.
Born and raised in the Houston area, Molina joined the Army Junior ROTC at Bellaire High School. When the family moved to Alief, Molina transferred to Elsik High School. He enlisted after graduating in 2005.

He wanted to be a soldier since he was a little kid, said his younger brother, Manuel Molina. "He just liked to play war."

Molina never planned to make the Army a career. He wanted to enroll in college in 2009. Some day, he told his family, he would like to work as a Border Patrol or FBI agent.

"He was a good kid and doing what he wanted to do," Paula Fredrickson (Joshua's sister) said. "At least he accomplished one of his dreams, and he paid the ultimate price."

"We were all so proud of him and even though we didn't like him being over there, we were still proud because he was giving us the freedom that we have in this country," the family member's quoted.

Sunday April 6, 1000 hrs
Please join us we honor this hometown hero who always wanted to join the ARMY and then gave all for you and me. He deserves nothing less than our best.

CPL Steven Candelo grew up wanting to be a soldier. His sisters recall his desire to wear a uniform from the time he was a toddler. His closest childhood friend remembered playing war games with Candelo when they were boys and pretending the firecrackers they tossed on the Fourth of July were bombs.

Now Candelo, 20, has become the ultimate hero in uniform — giving his life for his country while supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The Elsik High School graduate — who was engaged to be married, owned his own home and was the first in his family to sign up for college — died March 26 in Baghdad when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his vehicle.

His family takes comfort knowing Candelo died doing what he loved. - Houston Chronicle

MISSION PLAN: We will arrive at the airport about 30 minutes before arrival and setup our flag line on the tarmac. Then we will escort CPL Candelo to Forest Park Funeral Home 12800 Westheimer Rd. A police escort is provided by Sugar Land PD and Fort Bend Constables Precinct 4.

DATE OF MISSION: Sunday 6, 2008
STAGING LOCATION: 11765 S Hwy 6, Sugar Land, TX 77478
DIRECTIONS: ( MAP ) This is the northeast corner of Hwy 6 and Voss Rd. Next to the Burger King in the empty parking lot for the new strip center. It is right down the street from the Airport.

STAGING TIME LINE:
Staging: 1000 hrs
Mission Briefing and Prayer: 1050 hrs
KSU: 1100 hrs
Flag Line Setup: 1105 hrs
