I haven't chimed in on this subject....and probably don't need to, but oh well.

I think that the dealership is probably OK. I don't want to argue with that. But just like most of the people on here say, if they made a mistake, they should have just swallowed it from the beginning. I definately see a lot more "mistakes" going in the dealerships favor than the customers, so I stand pretty strong about that opinion.

Was it true that they threatened to "repo" the bike?! That's NUTS!! For THEIR mistake?? That doesn't make one bit of sense!!

I just don't understand why the contract was drawn up and the buyer signed it BEFORE the interest rate/loan was approved by Honda.

I had an interest rate change on me at the last minute once, but I hadn't signed any papers yet.

Why would you let the customer commit to a contract that specified an interest rate that you didn't have confirmation of?

Isn't it SOP to wait for confirmation from the finance corp. before you sign the papers? Signing the papers should be the last thing you do, after all else has been ironed out.

If this had been me, it would have been a lot harder to settle.

again you are in an industry where people talk....we on the board have the same thing in common and we will talk about or experiences good and bad.....thats how the "word of mouth" thing works. if you weren't offended about what was said on a public board, then you might see that it may turn into a good thing for your store...people see you fixing a screw up and say hey they are alright, i'll go there.

Man, close this thread... if the situation got remedied then all is good. We all can make out own decision if we want to deal with this dealership/shop. But as long as the owner/customer have resolved the issue, it is all good in my book.

So the bike got returned?

All this has done is show me where not to buy a bike.

I would hate to get scewerd and then have the dealership trying to tell everybody what a good guy they really are and how hard it is doing lagitimate business.

This thread just shows that most ppl on here don't have a clue about being in bussiness. Many dealers out ther get contracts signed and then finance companies change the rules it's not the dealers fault, maybe when it was summted they found a problem in the buyers credit app. Bet had the rate when down after the deal nothing would have been posted here at all. Money has gotten very hard to get here in the last 6 months everyone is tighting the rules especially loans for toys (bike, boats, jet skis)

So your saying that the dealership comes before the customer?

That shows me you wouldn't earn my buisiness anyway!

I was raised in a family buisiness and I saw my dad loose big sometimes but he always taught me the customer comes first!

In other words it doesn't matter "why the interest rate was changed what matters is what was agreed upon!

^ but why would the company let a buyer sign a contract before the credit was approved? Why not wait until it was approved?

Know what, if the dealership knows the finance company is prone to changing the 'rules', then the onus should be on them for making sure everything is clear/clean and ready to go.

It's the difference between 'GOOD' business and 'business'.
