GALVESTON HONDA EXPLODES!!!!!!

Now that I've got your attention I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Keith Coker current service manager and former sales manager for Galveston Honda. I have worked with Pike for over 6 years. He made an honest mistake and admitted it promptly. He tried to convince Honda to give the customer 4.9 but they have rules they have to live by as do we all. He was able to negotiate a reduced rate of 9.9 . Financing a bike is tough. Less than 25% of applicants qualify at all. Less than 5% get 4.9. Try getting a car at 0%. It's tough. Pike tried to get the customer to resign at 9.9 and the customer initially agreed. At this point we lost contact with customer.

We charge the customer the rate that Honda gives us. The customer could not have gotten a better rate (9.9) except possibly through a credit union. In Pike's defense how many of you have gone to the boss and told him you made a 2000.00 mistake. I would try to make it right because thats a tough pill to swallow. Had all parties concerned sat down this would have been resolved to the customers satisfaction without being aired on this forum.
Hence my comment about public forums. Public forums are great for airing grievances, but all other means should be exhausted before this happens. This was not the case. I hope all parties involved are comfortable. In a smaller
market area like ours we have to retain every customer we can.

Now for my beef. Not all dealers are devils. Most smaller shops are owned and staffed by riders and enthusiasts. I started working in a shop to support my roadracing addiction. I love to go fast! I have supported and led many people to this web site. It's great to see it grow. We should be careful in how we use this to make sure we know the whole story before we blow up buildings. I'm also disappointed to see that of the track day folks jumped on the bandwagon. I have sent many people to track days that did not know they existed. I'm sure well over half their customers were referred to them by racers that work at dealers. If you want to attack dealers without knowing the whole story your biting the hand that feeds you.

didnt sound like he 'initially agreed' to 9.9%. But whatever I hope he gets the bike he wants at a price/rate he is happy with. Looks like you guys couldnt do it and he let us know. Thats the beauty of public forums

IMO.... bike shouldn't leave the showroom floor until paperwork is all said and done. If a contract was signed and the deal done then that should be it, if a mistake was made by the dealership(car, bike or boat) then said dealership should eat it just like any other business eats it when they make a mistake. That's is called good business... re-evaluate your business practices to ensure this doesn't happen again. I had similar issue with clear lake dodge and I filed a BBB report because they were practicing shadey sales.

Pick and choose your battles. It isn't helping image any getting so defensive. Just admit the mistake (I see you have stated he did) and apologize. As the saying goes you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar.

galveston honda, just admitt your mistaake and stop trying to justify it with excuses. how does someone sign paper work for 4.9 and not get pre-approved for it?

and this is a public forum and not a jury. no slander was thrown your way so dont get upset the customer wanted to air your dirty laundry.

Sorry i dont feel bad cause someone made a mistake.

I dont think it was aired on here. if you look at the initial post that was made on this topic it was for help on what to do in a situation like this.

Most said to just take the bike back............if you are promised and agreed on one price then told after you already have the car that the price has changed then no there is no coming to terms you can have the property back.

glad it was resolved but it does leave a negative view in my eye tward the establishment.

werd. businesses pay to be with the BBB. the BBB cant do anything but add your name to a list they create for 'good' and 'bad' refrences.

my dad gets called all the time from them wanting him to pay fees to be in some book and website

welcome....here's my thoughts....

an honest mistake was made, but the paperwork was signed, and the guy took possession of the bike. a few days later, the mistake was caught......the dealership has gotta eat it.

you might as well tell him, oops, we meant to sell the bike to you for $15,000 and not $10,000.

+1

you guy's agreed to terms, if you had any doubt you shouldn't have signed the contract and esp. let the bike off the lot. and being that ya'll did you should eat the loss vs asking for the bike back.

the customer lived up to his part of the agreement, y'all aren't.
