there are a lot of independant drivers/non union. It would suck to be them. My dad did it for 25 years. They have to be taken in the with the price of fuel. The margins are small enough as it is. Hope it works out for them. I think it will just be another lame azz excuse for prices to go up. They might even find a way to blame a strike for the price of fuel.

It's been a few years since I got out of the trucking business so there may have been some changes but there was always a "fuel surcharge" added to the bills. The problem is that when fuel prices increase at a crazy fast rate like they have recently, the adjustments can't be made quickly enough.

Truckers are always gonna about fuel prices, just like carpenters about the cost of nails and wood, painters the price of paint, etc.

Trucking used to be a regulated business but the trucking companies didn't like havings the rates set for them because they wanted to get competetive and pull in more business. It's all great to be deregulated when things are good but when things go bad it's different.

Now I'm not saying that they are getting the best deal right now and the only way there are going to change that is to pull together. Good for them if they can do it.

I just don't want everyone to form an opinion without bettter information than is currently being posted up. I can assure everyone that rate increases have been going on because I have freight shipments everyday and the prices have been going up.

I look at it like this Shortage makes things more expensive they say gas is to high well if they dont deliver it it will make it more expensive same with food and Milk especially that stuff is way high but we cant do anyting about it oh well if they strike logistics company's that are needing stuff hauled will just call these big corps that arent striking and still get the stuff delivered all it is gonna do is make them not only not get a raise but lose money for all the days they are on strike worst of all the logistic company's that use them now will not use them anymore after the strike in the long run it will hurt the truckers more than anything I work part time for a logistics company trust me that if you put a bad taste in your brokers mouth they will never use you again

The price of everything that is taken to market will increase. Whether by truck, train, boat, whatever, if it uses fuel they will increase their price which will reflect directly on the cost of the items you purchase.

it won't happen.... I drove over the road for several years and the talk was always there. set dates would come and go but never any mass organized shut down ever took place. If it were to ever happen this country would be screwed but they are too unorganized so nothing will change.

Buddy of mine drives, after all those expenses pointed out, he brought home 40k after clearing 100k. Too much headache to only make 40k IMO.
