Road America

Has anyone ever been to Road America in Wisconsin? I just found out I have to travel to WI June 10th, the AMA race is the weekend before!! I am thinking of getting an earlier ticket up and spend the weekend at the race.

The track looks nice on TV but I was wanting someone with first hand experience at the track. Right now my debate is whether I go ahead and book a room nearby (Sheboygan Falls) or bit the bullet and pack up the camping gear. I have been to more than a few AMA races (mostly Mid-Ohio) and the most fun by far is camping out.

Anyone been there or planning on going this year?

I'm not going this year, but there is plenty of camping there, and the crowds usually aren't too bad.

It's a worth while trip, and you can see a lot of the track and move around the grounds a bit.

Hells yeah!!! Road America is the bomb! Been there 3 times in the past few years. Good luck finding a nearby hotel (within 20 or 30 miles), most of them were booked solid 2-3 months out when I tried making reservations in my past experiences. Ask the local cheeseheads were the "hot spots" are, because there are a lot of HD riders in the area. They directed me to the local "meat market". Good times, good times. If you can camp, and have some buddies, I suggest that. Camping at RA during the AMA weekend is like camping on the Guadalupe with an endless supply of beer Enjoy it!

If you are still planning on going up to WI for the RA AMA races, I have some friends meeting up in Chicago to ride up Sunday afternoon for the races. Here's a link to the thread if you want to join them. Sign up on the site, let DonTuan (his real name is Tuan) know you know me and ask to join them. I'm sure they'd be down for a tag along.
