charging system

what could make my 00' r6 charge at 22 volts?

i think this fried my batt.

im thinking ive got a bad rectifier/regulator but i dont know enough about electrical.

here is what happened--

Saturday i was at MSR and at lunch time (i had pulled off the track killed the engine to talk to my boss and was about to head to the pit area)my bike wouldn't re-start. i pulled the seat to check my battery connections and the battery was SOOOOO HOT, i couldnt hardly touch it. i put the bike on the trailer and watched everybody till the day was over.

yesterday i checked the battery and it shows 13.59 volts......then i push started the bike and checked with my volt meter and i got about 22 volts. i double checked my volt meter on my truck and it measured 12.5 volts sitting and 13.45 volts with the truck running (that sounds alot better).
