yeah, none of mine ever had seizures or lives such short lives ... my first two lived for about 4 years, and my second two i had for 3 years and then sold to some people, and I know they were still alive about a year and a half after i sold them ... but never talked to them after that.

Also, you must get one when its a baby that way it considers you (the owner) its parent. To successfully bond with a sugarglider, you need to buy a warm pouch that they sell for them, I would usually tear off a piece of a t-shirt that i had worn and didnt want anymore, and put it in the pouch with it and then you must carry the pouch with you as much as possible (prefferable around your neck so that the pouch lays on your chest and the sugarglider can hear your heartbeat and recognize your scent). The more time you spend with it, the more calm and playful personality it will have. They are not "mean" by nature, they just get scared and attack in fear and self-defense. And you DO NOT want to be bit by an adult!!!! that is some pain right there! the kind that last for a couple of weeks. Your bound to be softly bit when its a baby, but its not too hard, and its just getting to recognize your taste.

also, a lot of people feed them meal worms ... which yes are good source of protein for them, but it tends to make them a little meaner, and carnivorous. I used to make my own blend of meat flavored gerber with chopped up fruits & veggies. keeps them healthy and sound.

but all in all, they are super cool pets if taken care of and raised properly!
... and they can walk on walls and jump (glide) for several feet ... how cool is that!!!!
DEFF takes time for them to get to know you , they are work but they are great, ours would run around the house and it was cool, he use to push some hot wheels off the top of my bed down on to us when he was running around , he liked to play he was cool

I've been told that you can buy them from Traders Village, would that be a bad place to buy them from? Also, I've read that you should get them in pairs, not just one???

NO ... for Gods sake, do not buy them at a flea market!!!!

Here, check this place out ... they specialize in exotic animals. This is where i got my last 2 sugargliders, and i also got a couple of prairie dogs there as well. they have all sorts of exotics ... and some really nice looking snakes! They are also very helpful with any questions you may have.

S & S Exotic Animals Incorporated
(281) 590-0426
www.sandsexoticanimals.com
1711 Connorvale Rd, Houston, TX 7703

if you go under "our animals" and then "mammals", your find them there for $100

also, if you go under their photos, you can see some of the really exotic animals that they get.

oh, and I agree with buying them in pairs. I always had mine in pairs ... I dont really know how much that makes a difference, but the way i saw it was, im sure they would want a buddy in the cage with them.

had a boa get out one time, broke into my sis's glider cage and ate both of her gliders. its amazing the small spaces a 6 foot boa can fit in. i had a 9 foot retic squeeze under the 3/4" crack under my bedroom door, lol.

Ive never had them mess up furniture ... the only thing that i remember, was seeing tiny little holes in the curtains now and then from when they jump on it and grab with they're nails.

do you have leather or fabric sofas? ... they might leave some minor scratches on leather ... but nothing to worry about on fabric from my experience.
